Improve the Fair Score

Suggest new questions, criteria, or scoring improvements

The Fair Score methodology can change over time. As software practices change and new fairness issues come up, the criteria should also adapt. If you notice a missing question, a scoring option that does not match real situations, or a part of fairness insufficiently covered, please share your thoughts with us.

When you make a suggestion, please explain what the gap is, why it matters to users, and if possible, how it could be measured in different kinds of apps. You can email us at hello@fair-software.org with the subject "Fair Score feedback" or join the conversation on r/FairSoftware.

The full methodology is also published as an open document on Codeberg. If you're comfortable with Git, you can open an issue or submit a pull request directly at codeberg.org/gamito/fair-score.

Report an error

Flag a wrong or outdated score in an evaluation

We base Fair Score evaluations on publicly available information at the time of review. Since products and policies can change, we might miss something. If you think a score is wrong, outdated, or not supported by the evidence, please let us know.

Each evaluation page has a "Feedback" option for every scored question, so you can flag it directly. This is the quickest way to report an issue because it keeps all the details together. You can also email us with the app name, question number, and your evidence, or post on r/FairSoftware. We look at all reports and update our evaluations when the evidence supports a change.

Know a tool that deserves a Fair Score evaluation? We read every suggestion, but we can't guarantee we'll review every app — evaluations take significant research time and we prioritize based on relevance and demand. The more suggestions we receive for the same app, the more likely we are to move it up the list. You can also suggest apps directly on r/FairSoftware — public threads let others vote and add their voice.
