About
About the project
The tools you and your organization use to communicate, store data, collaborate, and run operations are usually chosen for convenience or cost. They rarely reflect your preferences and values. Most of the time, these tools are not truly chosen, but imposed or selected because they are popular.
Fair Software helps you make better choices. Today, your phone, work tools, and data are closely tied to your daily life. Choosing to "just use whatever" is no longer a neutral decision, especially as AI permeates everyday life. But making the right choice isn't always easy. That's where Fair Software comes in.
We try to answer a tough question: what is "fair" software? Is it the cheapest? Is it software that respects your data? Does fairness come from being audited? That's why we created Fair Score. We review apps based on criteria promoting software fairness, such as privacy and data, openness and transparency, pricing model, ownership and portability, independence and ethics, and longevity and community.
The Fair Score gives you a quick and simple way to see how a digital tool compares across 22 key criteria. You can expect honest reviews of software, clear analysis of digital rights and AI governance, and insights into why European digital sovereignty matters. If you believe in a fair, human-centered, and value-driven digital world, you're in the right place.
Disclaimer
The information on this website, including Fair Score evaluations, may contain errors and is not legal, financial, or professional advice. It is researched and written without formal legal review, and some assessments reflect the subjective judgment of the author based on the Fair Score methodology.
Evaluations reflect the product's terms, policies, and practices as of the date noted on each review. Products and companies change over time, and an evaluation may not reflect the current state of a product after that date. Each evaluation displays the date reviewed, app version, operating system, and Fair Score methodology version used, so results can be understood in context and re-verified as products change.
Every evaluation is open to review. If you believe an individual score is incorrect, outdated, or you see it differently, use the "Feedback" option next to that score to tell us why. You can also get in touch directly for anything else.
Inclusion of a product or company in this directory does not involve endorsement, partnership, or affiliation with Fair Software, nor does it imply the product's endorsement of Fair Software. Product names, logos, and trademarks referenced on this site are the property of their respective owners, used here for identification purposes only.
